From this bed’s immobile perch
I gaze past the outdated wall’s
Drab mauve and ancient ugly frieze
To discover living human
Faces of infinite hue and shape
And angle, hair of myriad
Rainbow shading, voices tinged with
Accents of rich array; and all
Speaking, all reaching, all touching
In single harmony of love.
.
I would like to claim I found this.
But no. They found me, it found me
After being delivered from
The basement bowels of the ER
To something like the only Heaven
You’ll ever need to know, a
Place where the sole currency is
Love, the lone motivation care.
Here I happily reside, will
Never leave my newfound glory.
